CANDIDATE
Charles R. Earl
CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF
Secretary of State
NOVEMBER 2, 2010 ELECTION
2010 Ohio General Election
CANDIDATE STATEMENT
In recent years the inept and seemingly corrupt administration of Ohio's elections by Secretaries of State from the two major parties has undermined Ohio citizens' confidence in our system. It is time for integrity and honesty to be restored in the election process. As a Libertarian, I will serve as the representative of the people and the "umpire" who demands that all parties and all candidates are held accountable for their actions.
Likewise, the re-apportionment process in Ohio has been tainted by excessive partianship and "incumbent protection" gerrymandering. As a member of the five-person Apportionment Board, my role as "referee" will ensure that Ohio Legislative Districts are "voter-friendly" rather than protection schemes for career politicians.
Finally, recent history suggests that the Secretary ofState's office has merely become a launching pad for higher office. I pledge and commit to the voters of Ohio that I will serve as your Secretary of State, perform the duties faithfully, and then, return to my small farm in Wood County. I am not a career politician.
If you are disgusted with career politicians, remember E-A-R-L, Earl is a four-letter word.
